CHARACTER
Name:Oerba Yun Fang
Canon: Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy
Age: Real: 1621 Apparent: 21
Timeline: Post Lightning Returns.

Personality:

Oerba Yun Fang has been described by Lightning as having a wild fearlessness to her. She is both confident and cocky, and also holds an equal share of sarcasm as well as determination, and she never backs down from a challenge. She believes in Lady Luck, and holds great stock in the belief that if something works out in her favor, it is because of the good lady. She holds a lot of personal agendas, doing what is best for herself and her loved ones first and foremost before strangers. She is considered physically stronger than Lightning, and more stubborn than Snow.

This huntress has a caring side, also, and is loyal to her friends and family, going to great lengths to ensure that they are safe, , almost dangerous lengths, in fact. This is especially true for her childhood friend, Vanille, whom she considered the only family she had left. This was until she became part of the team of l'Cie that would take down the Fal'Cie and Orphan once and for all.

There is an insecurity in her when speaking about her past, because her memories never seem to provide every detail about how she became a l'Cie. She also holds a deep seeded fear of seeing her friends become Cie'th, and nearly turns her back on them thanks to this fear, not wanting to be the only one left. When Lightning convinces her that she isn't fighting alone, and helps her battle Bahamut, she changes her mind quickly.

She tends to enjoy keeping her demeanor light hearted and easy going, but there is a strict side to her, especially when it comes to Vanille. It can almost be assumed to be motherly, or sisterly in a sense, and keeping her safe is something she shares with Lightning's desire to keep her sister Serah safe. It was one of the first things that they had in common during their fight through Palumpolum.

In the third game, her demeanor hasn't really changed, though it is seen that she's taken up the responsibility of being a bandit leader in order to find the item that would help her save Vanille from being sacrificed. She still holds the same determination she had before, even in the face of the end of the world, agreeing to aid Lightning in any way she can during her time in the desert and during the final fight through the Luxerion church to the inner chamber.

Even after their separation, she still cares deeply about Vanille, and is willing to help her ferry the lost souls of Nova Chrysalis to the new world. In the very end, as she and Vanille settle into their new home in the new world, it's apparent that she still holds her friends in the highest regard. A journalist comes to visit to ask questions about the latent memories everyone seems to share of a previous life, and Fang is assured that all Lightning wished for was that everyone lived happily now.

Background: Wiki page.

After the fight against Bhunivelze, the group of former l'Cie stand before a crystal and await Lightning's final action. The souls of Nova Chrysalia have been ferried across to the new world, and it is time for them to join them.

In the new world, she and Vanille have taken a home in an arid region amidst ranches and ruins that remind them much of home from the old life they shared. Despite being cold towards a reporter, who arrives asking questions about the latent memories everyone seems to share of this other world and life, she agrees to share the stories of their adventures, and reassure her that if everyone is happy in the new world, then that is all that Lightning wished for.

It is in this life, and after these events that Fang is pulled from her life once again.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths: attentive, loyal, persuasive, protective, strong willed, skilled fighter, strong physique.

Weaknesses: over protective, selective, overly playful (has a hard time taking a situation seriously), secretive, eccentric, stubborn.

Abilities:

Lance: Fang specializes in the Lance weaponry. Her main weapon sections off into a three section staff for ranged attack. She is also decent at hand to hand combat and some short range attacks with her lance, as it can break apart into three sections attached by chains.

Magic: Her main elements, water and wind, can be maxed out to the highest degree, however, she is not the strongest in the Ravager Paradigm.

Stagger: Stagger is an ability that can be used in order to cause enemies to hesitate. The more Fang attacks, the higher the meter goes, which in turn causes the Stagger. This gives a short window of time advantage for Fang, allowing her to increase attack and lower the enemy's health.

Sentinel: Defense of the highest paradigm. This allows Fang to take a larger amount of damage then most people.

Commando: Allowing Fang an offensive stance, this paradigm gives her higher strength stats.

Jumping: Dragoons have an amazing ability to jump to heights exceeding that of a normal human, and Fang is no different. This allows her to reach the almost unreachable, but controlling it and timing it can be the difficult part.

First Person:

[Her feet pounded the earth as she broke through the underbrush. Her ears can pick up the trampling of dirt from behind her, and she knows she's still being pursued. It wouldn't be long now until the creature caught up to her, and she needs to make a plan fast. Should she fight or flee? So far, she's doing a good job of the fleeing part, but soon, fight may be her only option. Without another minute to spare, she skids to a stop, sliding around as she juts her spear into the ground to stop. It's now or never, and so she pulls the weapon up and readies herself for the inevitable impact of horn against metal. It never comes. Her muscles shake and she looks around, trying to track just where the footsteps behind her had disappeared to. Was it her imagination?

Before another musing can run through her mind, she turns immediately to block an attack from the right. Smiling, she takes one good look at the hulking beast in front of her.
]

Well, it's about time you made it to the party!

[The creature was large and generically grey, skin riddled with pockmarks of scars and scratches obtained from years of fighting over territory, or at least that's what Fang wagered. It was like a rough armor gained through time, and its face was no better. Wrinkled and mangled, the most noticeable features it had were the large lower fangs jutting from its lips and the ivory horn currently clashed with the huntresses spear.]

Boy, you have seen better days, I'll tell you that. [She grunts this through her teeth as she tries to hold her ground, pushing back with all her might to keep from being overtaken.]

[The beast roars in her face, spit flying and almost obscuring her vision. She groans in disgust at it, but never makes a move to wipe it from her face as she yells, almost roaring back at it to let it know she isn't afraid.]

[This confuses it, and it backs down almost as quickly as it came, moving backwards and roaring again, except more timidly now.]

Ohhhh no you don't. You started this tizzie now either finish it or get! [She keeps a strict tone, jutting her spear at the horned beast as it backs away even more.
It isn't long before it backs into the brush and out of sight, giving up on its chase and its tantrum. She had shown herself to be the better.
]

[With a sigh, she blows some of her bangs out of her face, placing a hand on her hip and shaking her head. This would be some story to tell when she gets back home.]

Third Person:

Even in the new world, there was nothing more enjoyable than a good hunt. The only difference now was, the creatures didn't prove as much of a challenge. This was disappointing to Fang, as she still remembered the struggle and the adrenaline she got from encountering an especially challenging fiend. All the same, whether she could go to the store or hunt for it, not only did it provide her with a source for food, but it was a good stress reliever, and she was more than happy to partake.

Vanille was more than happy to stay home and that was also fine with Fang. She never intended to go after something too dangerous, but that sort of game was few and far between now. She had been tracking a particularly entrancing prey, however, for the past day or so, and she didn't intend to let it go. After having recovered its tracks, she stood to check the time of day. She more preferred to tell by the sun, but watches had become more common in this new life. Still, she could enjoy some of her old pleasures, as there weren't really any people in the area to question otherwise. It was almost past mid day, and she had been on track not but a day ago. How she fell behind, she'll never understand. Whatever it was she was after, it was swift, and she needed to pick up the pace.

Moving through the tall grass quickly and quietly, she kept her ears keen for any sound that would clue her in on its location. There was nothing. It was almost too eerily quiet here, and as she stopped to crouch, parting some of the grass with her hands to look out into the fields, she noticed there wasn't much signs of life anywhere around her. No birds.
Lowering her hand slowly, she picked up a handful of dirt, letting it slide from her fingers slowly. Her eyes widened momentarily as she noted that there was no wind, whatsoever. Hadn't there been only moments ago? Her spine crawled, and her throat became dry. Something wasn't right, and she was smack dab right in the middle of it.

Seeing as how she was possibly safe from any attack, she stood slowly, her lance firmly in her grip. Her eyes wandered around her and noted that the fields were absolutely barren, and she turned a few times to make sure. The moment that she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, she knew that she probably shouldn't have.

She opened her eyes, and instead of a field, she found herself in the car of a train.

Don't be shy now.
